The U.S. army needed a fast, lightweight all-terrain vehicle in World War I. The U.S. army asked the automotive companies to create a vehicle fitting its specifications. Willy’s Truck Company created such a prototype. The vehicle was named “the Jeep”. The General of the U.S. later said winning the war would not have been possible without it. Attached to the wheel hub holding the brake pads that apply pressure on the brake disc is the Jeep brake caliper. The front and rear brake caliper of the Jeep has a number of pistons. Make sure the brake fluid is flushed completely every year. If you don’t flush the brake fluid, water will leak into the brake hydraulic system causing rust. This will eventually rust the brake caliper piston and seize up the caliper.
A Jeep Wrangler brake caliper comes for about 80$ while the price for a Jeep Grand Cherokee brake caliper is about 100$.
On the firewall next to the brake master cylinder is located the Jeep clutch master cylinder. Its primary function is to transfer the clutch pedal pressure to release the clutch. When you rest your foot on the clutch pedal and the pedal goes slowly to the floor it means the clutch master cylinder needs a change. The clutch master cylinder has a reservoir. The reservoir holds the fluid used in the clutch hydraulic system. Water is an enemy of the clutch master cylinder. Flush the fluid otherwise rust will set in the clutch system causing the clutch master cylinder to fail.
A Jeep wrangler clutch master cylinder has a cost of around 50$ and other models of Jeep clutch master cylinders cost about 40$.
As the oil is being pumped through the engine the Jeep oil filter is used to clean it. The Jeep spin-on oil filters are usually made of metal. Inside there is a paper-filtering medium which traps metallic shavings and dirt which end up in engine oil. In some Jeep spin-on filters there is an internal check valve which keeps oil inside the oil filter when the engine is off. While starting this helps the engine get oil – faster.
Most Jeep oil filters are available at a price of about 5$.
Pressurized nitrogen inside the Jeep shock absorber helps prevent the formation of tiny air bubbles. This is essential otherwise the air bubbles will reduce the effectiveness of the damping oil. The Jeep shock absorber manages the up and down movement of the wheel and tires.

A Jeep starter powers a starter pinion gear. This pinion gear is designed to engage with the ring gear of the flywheel. The Jeep starter is located either at the rear of the engine or the front of the transmission bell housing. It turns the engine when the ignition switch is turned to the start position. Slow cranking or no cranking at all when the engine is hot indicates a useless starter.
